Abstract Decentralization in referring images is a kind of visual decentralization in which the child makes comparisons by referring to the images after or before the current image. These comparisons distract him/her from the current image and make him/her refer to other components and dimensions of the images or text of the story. The use of visual decentralization techniques brings the child closer to the decentralization stage. In the present study, which aims to analyze and discover the role of referring images in the mental decentralization of the child, the referring visual decentralization techniques used in ten stories written by Yaghoub al-Sharoni (1931-2017) are examined. In order to achieve the goal of the research and an appropriate result, first, the techniques used in the statistical population are divided into 7 categories: image-text alignment, self-reference, two-part images, prognosis, similarity, long shot and close-up, superficiality and profundity. Then, all the images of these stories that are in line with the subject, goals and questions of the research are collected. The article tries to find out which type of referring visual decentralization has the highest frequency in the selected stories of Al-Sharoni, and what Al-Sharoni’s goal was in using the techniques of referring visual decentralization in his stories. The results indicate that there are 232 cases of referring decentralization techniques in the stories, that is approximately 30 techniques in each story, which is a very high frequency. Among the techniques used, image-text alignment have the highest frequency in the stories (%40 and %28 respectively). The frequent use of the image-text alignment technique is due to the fact that it is the most appropriate and comprehensible decentralization technique for the child since it engages, dynamizes, and develops the child’s mental creativity. It is also found that stimulating creativity and mental dynamism of the child, making the stories attractive through changing its usual form, preventing his/her mind from superficial perception, and making him/her discover the underlying and complex layers of the story are the main goals of Yaghoub al-Sharoni in using the referring-decentralizing images.

Abstract The complex political and social conditions of contemporary era and the emergence of the contradictions of society in some Arab countries, along with the artistic motivations, makes the poet call the traditional symbolic treasures to express his inner thoughts, giving authenticity to his work and creating ambiguity of art. Furthermore, the excessive call of certain heritage symbols and the use of similar implications in contemporary poetry have sometimes caused symbolic implications to be so tangible to the reader that the poem gets a tone of address and report. In this regard, the use of metamorphosis of symbols is a method of novelty and personification of lexical elements and implications of the symbols that the mighty and conscious poet used to invertand negative rendering of the well-known implications of symbol and they are changed in such a way that the symbol takes new implications contrary to theoriginal state. In general, the metamorphose in the concept of symbols represent the essence of the poet mind. Nazzᾱr Qabᾱni is of those poets who call for ancient treasures and some natural elements in order to create artistic ambiguity and dynamic images and also to illustrate the contradictions of contemporary Arab society with their past, and recreates ancient symbols through inverting and negative rendering of the implications. In this regard, the metamorphosis of symbols is considered as one of the most important sources of political poetry of Nazzᾱr Qabᾱni. The present research, using descriptive-analytical method, attempts to evaluate the range of metamorphoses of symbols in political poems of the poet and reveal his implicit implications of his ballades. The results show that the metamorphosis of symbolic implication of faces and natural elements associated with the concepts of heroism and courage in the poetry of Qabani has a special place compared to other samples.

Abstract The tendency to say things indirectly rather than being explicit is one of the most evident qualities of contemporary Arabic poetry. To achieve this indirectness, the contemporary poets make use of numerous devices including innuendo. The “Jesus after Crucifixion” ode by Sayy?b is one the primary examples of this novel literary technique. Since the technique of innuendo is based on the elements of drama and story and the two elements of conflict and dynamism – as two fundamental principles of drama – play the greatest part in the dramatic structure of the story, the success of the poet in utilizing innuendo depends on to what extent the elements of the ode match the said elements as well as to what degree the voice of the poet corresponds to the voice of the favorite protagonist of the story. Sayy?b, by selecting the most agonizing part of Jesus’ life and attempting to illustrate the expectation of mankind following that much suffering and pain, he has matched the experience of the contemporary man or his own with the story of Jesus crucifixion – which is always fresh in people’s minds – and relying on the overlap between these two characters, he has managed to promote his personal experience to a universal mankind level.
