Methods In this study, descriptive analysis and citing the book of genetics and library resources and try to answer this question is to what extent the narrative discourse in conflicts reflection of the author on the problems of women succeed? At first, the woman's storyteller (Talat) has been studied and his role in the story is being studied. Through this, it became clear that the author, by creating this role in the story, sought to highlight the importance of women's identity in women's lives. Secondly, from the point of view of the analysis and critique of discourse and its function in discovering and explaining the duality of identity, which has been the result of denial of femininity, has drawn attention to the character of the story. Read More Abstract One of the most prominent features of the self, regarding the innate dimension and identity, is manifested through the negotiation and encounter with the other as an effective and opposing element. Cultural and civilized encounter and relationship with the other, firstly depend on the nature of the self, its problems with the other, and on the problems of the society in which it lives. Therefore, the other is reflected and manifested through establishing communication with the self. This communication might be demonstrated in various forms, for instance, a positive and friendly interaction, negotiation and dialogue, or dialectic. Whatever this communication is, it results in leading the self to the manifestation and interpretation of itself. The poems of Ezzeddin al-Manªsserah are the vast realm of the manifestation and emergence of the self and the other and the interaction and dialectic between them. The reason for this feature of his poems is that he is rejected by his country at a young age and lived in another country for a long time where he had close relationship and interaction with the other and has portrayed various types of the other in his works. In this study, after reading Ezzeddin al-Manªsserah’s poems in the area of resistance literature and through emphasizing on imageological concepts and applying descriptive-analytical method, the image of the self and the other in al-Manªsserah’s works were investigated. The results demonstrated that Ezzeddin al-Manªsserah has depicted the self in three different types, including individual, group, and human, in most of his resistance poems. Particularly, the individual type of the self is manifested more than the other types in his poems. Moreover, he has portrayed the other in two types, namely the stranger and opponent other and the fellow other which is merely in disagreement with the self about beliefs. However, it is important to note that the other has not been depicted vividly and independently in his poems and cannot be addressed.

Read More Language is considered as one of the outstanding interactive means of human beings to transmit mental concepts. The analysis this infinite collection of symbols that are manifested in the form of words is one of the concerns in literature and linguistics. Cognitive semantics is one of the approaches dealing with language and can be used to find out a reliable relation between language, outside experiences, thoughts, and social experiences. Comprehending and analyzing the application of pictorial schemes is one of the fundamental issues in cognitive semantics. Through such an approach, we can arrive at a valid interpretation of the abstract concepts of the language of a text and at an understanding of the cognitive structure the writer of that text. This research tries to find out the frequency and application of pictorial schemes in Sohran Sepehri and Khalil Hawi’s poetry. Most of Sepehri’s poetry is a combination of different beliefs in Islamic mysticism and Eastern religions like Buddhism, which are juxtaposed in the most harmonious way. His verses can be considered as mysticism expressed in today’s language. Khalil Hawi’s verses also manifest different beliefs of Western and Eastern philosophy. His poems not only incorporate issues and conflicts of his country, but describe mental concepts which are difficult to comprehend. This research seeks to determine what the role of pictorial schemes in the poems of these poets is, and how their theoretical concepts affect the frequency and application of the pictorial schemes. The findings show that Sepehri’s practice of painting, the mystical concepts of his poems, and his poetical loneliness cause “body schemes” to have the most frequency in his verses. On the other hand, because of the thought disorder and the melancholy governing Khalil Hawi’s verses, “power schemes,” all of which express failure in the social activities, are frequently seen in his poetry.

Read More There is a clear overlap between postmodern theories such as postfeminism, poststructuralism, and postindustrialism. An exception to this overlap is postcolonialism where the time frames of these theories and movements intersect at a contradictory point, even though the texts of each theory contain literary techniques from the other theories, as is the case in the relationship between postcolonialism and postmodernism. For instance, postmodernism attempts to dismantle the structures and restrictions imposed by the theories of literary genre, power, and value, even if they are prevalent traditions. As for the postcolonial approach, it is, to a large extent, politically oriented and seeks to dismantle the structures that consecrate hegemony, control, and power, and to establish relations between unequal forces through bilateral encounters such as I/the other, we/they, the first world/the third world, and white/black or yellow. Edward Said has been considered the founder of postcolonialism since he wrote his famous book Orientalism. We find traces of this critical field in his biographical book Out of Place: A Memoir. His works, especially his books Orientalism and Culture and Imperialism, opened new horizons to various fields of knowledge. The books of this Palestinian-born writer and intellectual have revolutionized Middle Eastern studies and contributed to the creation of new areas of knowledge, such as postcolonial theory. In Culture and Imperialism, he contends that global imperialism has used its dominance in literature, especially the novel which Western imperialism has effectively employed to gain domination over colonized people. He investigates the compatibility of goals between the novel and colonialism and asserts that the novel in particular and narratives in general play important roles in the issue of identity and belonging, as the novel was employed by imperialist powers in the nineteenth and twentieth century as a vital medium in order to extend their imperial control, subjugate the colonized people, and rob them of their identities.

Read More Literary text, includes various types of signs. These signs are interweaved in various implicational layers. Barthes in his post-structural reading tries to distinguish five types of codes, among which three types of codes namely connotative code, symbolic code, and cultural code enlightens the structural implication of the text along with the hypertext elements. In this respect, analyzing these codes will indicate the meaning of the text. This article uses the Barthes' method to read contemporary Lebanese novel and in addition to representing the narrative structure, pays attention to the representation of its intellectual structures. Therefore, during this study, the novel of " Al-khaṭāyā al-shā'i'ah (Common Mistakes)" by Fattan al-Mur, with an anthropological approach toward resistance, was analyzed at three levels of connotative, symbolic, and cultural codes. Connotative code studies an implicit meaning in the characteristics of the characters and their action in the story. At the level of cultural code, the cultural and ideological space of the value system of fictional discourse, and in the symbolic code, symbols emphasized in the story were analyzed. .. The analysis of these codes using Barthes' critical approach through the descriptive-analytic method indicated that the novel, in the case of connotative codes depicts the living conditions in Lebanon in the shadow of terror, insecurity, war, and conflict. In such type of condition, a paradoxical manner is also described, full of peace and security of European life and the image of the characters of these two environments with appropriate features. Therefore, the story does not represent a black and white image of European and Lebanese characters but introduces them through aspects such as courage and patriotism as a shared aspect of the fighters. In cultural or referential codes, "martyrdom" and "martyrdom-seeking" are central values in the story, not only independent of the ideology of Muslims but beyond the religion and belief of a nation are also rooted in the culture of patriotism, the spirit of honor, and resistance. At the level of symbolic codes, the story with a realistic approach provides just one example of the character of a female fighter as the symbolic code.
